The Hicks Beach
family of Coln St Aldwyns by Karen Cook, Archivist. Karen is currently cataloguing the large and nationally important of the Hicks beach family, Earls St Aldwyn, which is held at the Archives. It includes a wealth of material from 16th century manorial records to correspondence with Benjamin Disraeli and Joseph Chamberlain. |

Winchcombe and its
Lost Abbey by David Aldred The important Benedictine Abbey of Winchcombe has left very little trace in the modern landscape. This talk will focus on searching for clues which still survive in and around the town. There will be an opportunity to browse a display of archives and books relating to the Abbey, showing the breadth of its impact on Gloucestershire, including a star item covering the period 811 to 1328. |
